The Japanese Chin Dog Breeder Offers a Dainty Friend

As with many breeds, the true origin of the Japanese Chin lends itself to discussion. There does not seem to be any firm information regarding the beginning of this breed, but there are a few ideas. The belief is that it originated in China and that Japanese Royalty received it as a gift. While others believe that, it has its origin in Korea. Whichever case you believe in, the Japanese Chin or Japanese Spaniel was independently bred by various Japanese Royal houses. Each Japanese Chin dog breeder would breed to his own standards. This is probably the reason that, today we see such a wide variety in the Japanese Chin.

Every Chin has is own look and temperament. Many differ in size, type and color of coat, eyes and personality. Some present as fragile little animals while others are muscular and strong. The average Japanese stands 8- 11 inches at the withers and weighs between 7 and 11 pounds, although there have been Chins that weigh closer to four pounds. Any reputable Japanese Chin dog breeder will allow you to meet the parents of a prospective dog, in this way you are able to get a better idea of what a puppy from these parents will look and act like.

The origin of the Japanese Chin may no be definite but the genealogy of this little animal has been researched and found branching. Professor Ludvic von Schulmuth studied the skeletal remains of dogs and in turn was able to produce a lineage for a Japanese Chin dog breeder, lover or interested party. For starters, the oldest member of this tree is the Gobi Desert Kitchen Midden Dog. From this dog came the Small Soft-Coated, Drop-Eared Hunting dog that in turn left three branches. Branch one includes the Tibetan Spaniel, Pekingese and the Japanese Chin. Branch two comprises the Longhaired Chihuahua and Papillion. And the last branch contains the Pug and Shih Tzu.

This delicate, cat like animal is very alert and intelligent. This makes training somewhat easier. Like with most dogs, the earlier you begin socialization and training the more positive hidden traits you can reveal in your pet. A Japanese Chin dog breeder will tell you that this dog is an entertainer. It loves to dance and sing and is extremely loyal and loving to its owner. The Chin is low maintenance when it comes to exercise, the amount of indoor playing and entertaining that it does seems to suffice for energy it needs to expend. This wonderful pet is great choice for the older generation who may not be able to be involved in strenuous exercise, but would welcome a loving friend.
