Information on Japanese Chin Rescue Dogs
The origination of this toy-sized breed is not certain. But it was developed either in China, Korea or Japan around the 5th century. In Japan especially, they practiced inbreeding in an attempt to produce this cat-like dog. If you are investigating whether a Japanese chin rescue dog is right for you, know that they have the fastidious, playful and independent traits similar to a cat. And the paradoxes do not end there. This elegant dog can also be a comic. Their luxurious coats require infrequent bathing. While some can be reserved with strangers and new situations, others are used as therapy dogs. Although they aren’t barkers, they make good watchdogs. And, up until 1977, the Japanese chin was known as the Japanese spaniel.
This breed can be divided into two classes: Those that are under 7 pounds and over 7 pounds. Many humans are not aware that their dog suffers from small dog syndrome. To ensure your Japanese chin rescue will not have these behaviors, be sure you set rules for the dog (obedience training is always a good thing) and that you establish yourself as pack leader when you bring them home. These dogs are charming, lively and loving, and enjoy being the center of attention. They love everyone who is familiar to them and get along well with other dogs and pets, and children. Although their health is generally good, they wheeze and snore because of their short muzzles. There will be no need to worry that your Japanese chin rescue will not bond with you, because they are devoted to their masters. You can expect this breed to live approximately 10 years, with some living to be 15.
There are many groups that rescue specific breeds of dogs and Japanese Chin Care and Rescue Effort is just one. JCCARE is an organization of volunteers who work to care for and find homes for abused and abandoned Japanese chins. They have a questionnaire built in to their adoption application. Honest and thoughtful answers help to ensure a good match between dog and family. In addition, they have many representatives across the country who you can call to ask questions and determine if a Japanese chin rescue dog is right for you and your family. Be sure and take the time to do research to determine if this breed is the one you want to bring home for the rest of their life.
